Local Chapters Host Box City Children's Event

On Saturday, April 12, both AIA Denver and AIA Colorado South will present Box City, a unique children’s activity open to the public.

The AIA Denver Box City will take place at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Building atrium (201 W Colfax Ave, Denver, 80202) from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

The AIA Colorado South Box City will take place in the gymnasium of Steele Elementary School (1720 N. Weber St., Colorado Springs, CO 80907).

Box City promotes an understanding of historic preservation and urban design by combining art, architecture, creative thinking, city planning, design, construction, fun and learning into one comprehensive educational experience.

More than 100 children and their families are expected to participate in each chapter's event, culminating in the construction of a miniature, cardboard city at each location.

This event is open to children in kindergarten through fifth grade (accompanied by an adult). Reservations are recommended for guaranteed entry and can be made by contacting Emily Ewing at 303.446.2266, ext. 110.
